Pidge's Puppies Arrive

At 7am yesterday Pidge delivered her first baby. By noon she had whelped 8 beautiful puppies. All are doing good, have gained weight over night and are very active. Pidge is a first time Mom and is doing fantastic. Usually it takes a little time to adjust to the new role - just like humans.

Her first night as a Mom was mostly restful. She is learning how to respond to 8 hungry mouths all at once and rearrange them to nurse. This is instinctive for most Labs but there are a few housekeeping chores that take more getting used than others.

We visit Dr Keller this afternoon for a complete check up and dew claw removal.
